Precision Control in Any Space.
The enemy is guesswork — and in post-harvest processing, guesswork has a measurable cost. Conventional drying methods subject material to uncontrolled thermal exposure, inconsistent moisture gradients, and process timelines that shift with ambient conditions. Every batch processed under those conditions is a variable you cannot account for at the point of sale. Terpene profiles degrade silently. Potency measurements drift between runs. Shelf stability becomes a best-guess figure rather than a documented output. The equipment itself becomes an adversary: no feedback loop, no automated response to chamber conditions, no mechanism to enforce repeatability across consecutive cycles. The result is a production floor where the operator carries the entire burden of consistency — and where that burden compounds with every batch.
After deployment, the processing environment changes fundamentally. Each cycle runs against a defined vacuum target, with the system autonomously managing sublimation conditions from freeze initiation through final drying. Material exits the chamber with documented moisture removal, preserved terpene architecture, and a shelf stability profile that holds across storage and distribution. Batch records become defensible. Output quality stops being a function of who ran the cycle and starts being a function of the process itself. The facility moves from reactive quality management to proactive process control — and that shift is visible in every unit that leaves the production floor.
The mechanism behind that outcome is the pharmaceutical-grade lyophilization architecture built into this unit. The circular vacuum chamber with removable shelving accommodates 8 stainless steel trays across a 2.7 GAL (10.2 L) holding capacity, providing the surface area distribution required for uniform sublimation across the full batch load. The system operates on standard 110V infrastructure, drawing 9–11 amps under average load and peaking at 16 amps during active freeze cycles — no dedicated electrical service required. Target vacuum during drying is 500 mTorr, achieved within 10–15 minutes under normal conditions, with an acceptable achievement window of 30 minutes and a minimum safe pressure threshold of 500 mTorr. The vacuum pump operates at an external temperature of 160°F. Recommended operating temperature range is 35–90°F, with peak efficiency between 45–75°F, a maximum operating threshold of 105°F, and a minimum of 35°F. The touch interface provides direct control and real-time monitoring throughout every phase of the lyophilization cycle, and patented Smart Freeze™ technology automates process sequencing without requiring specialized operator training. In practical terms, the Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer delivers pharmaceutical-grade lyophilization across an 8-tray, 2.7 GAL (10.2 L) chamber at 110V with a 500 mTorr target vacuum achieved in 10–15 minutes.
Where This Belongs (and Doesn't)
Electrical infrastructure requirements: This unit operates on a standard 110V circuit. Verify that the installation circuit supports a 16-amp peak draw. Do not share the circuit with high-draw equipment during active freeze cycles. Consult a licensed electrician before installation if circuit capacity is uncertain.
Optimal Deployment Environments
- Licensed post-harvest processing facilities requiring documented batch consistency
- Extraction preparation rooms where moisture content at input directly affects downstream yield
- Pharmaceutical-grade production environments with ambient temperature control between 45–75°F
- Multi-unit production lines where this unit serves as a primary or redundant processing node
- Quality assurance environments requiring repeatable lyophilization parameters across consecutive runs
Environments Where This Unit Is Not Appropriate
- Unventilated spaces where ambient temperature regularly exceeds 90°F — performance degrades above 105°F and the unit must not operate above that threshold
- Environments below 35°F ambient — minimum operating temperature is 35°F
- Facilities requiring continuous high-volume throughput beyond the 2.7 GAL (10.2 L) per-batch capacity — scale to multi-unit configuration or evaluate the XL line
- Circuits already loaded near capacity — peak draw of 16 amps requires a dedicated or adequately provisioned circuit
How It Works
Lyophilization — freeze drying — removes moisture through sublimation rather than evaporation. Material is first frozen to a stable solid state, then placed under vacuum conditions that cause ice to transition directly from solid to vapor, bypassing the liquid phase entirely. This process preserves cellular structure, volatile terpene compounds, and heat-sensitive cannabinoid profiles that conventional thermal drying methods degrade or destroy. The absence of liquid water during the drying phase means oxidation pathways that operate in aqueous environments are suppressed, contributing directly to extended shelf stability without the use of preservatives or modified atmosphere packaging at the processing stage.
The Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer executes this process within a circular vacuum chamber engineered to pharmaceutical-grade tolerances. The removable shelving unit holds 8 stainless steel trays across a total holding capacity of 2.7 GAL (10.2 L), distributing the batch load across a surface area geometry optimized for uniform vapor migration during the sublimation phase. The system targets 500 mTorr during active drying — a vacuum depth that sustains efficient sublimation without requiring industrial-scale pumping infrastructure. Under normal operating conditions, the chamber reaches target vacuum within 10–15 minutes of cycle initiation. The acceptable achievement window extends to 30 minutes; if target vacuum is not achieved within that window, the system flags the condition for operator review. The vacuum pump operates at an external temperature of 160°F during active cycles.
Process control is managed through the touch interface, which provides real-time visibility into chamber conditions and cycle status throughout freeze, primary drying, and secondary drying phases. Patented Smart Freeze™ technology automates the transition logic between phases, removing the requirement for manual intervention at critical process junctures. The system operates on 110V with an average power draw of 9–11 amps and a peak draw of 16 amps, placing it within the electrical envelope of standard commercial facility infrastructure. The recommended operating temperature range of 35–90°F, with peak efficiency between 45–75°F, means the unit performs reliably in conditioned processing environments without requiring dedicated HVAC modification. In practical terms, the Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer processes material across 8 trays and 2.7 GAL (10.2 L) of chamber capacity at a 500 mTorr target vacuum, drawing 9–11 amps average on a standard 110V circuit with no specialized infrastructure requirement.

Facility Integration Data
The following ROI reference framework is provided for facility planning purposes. Figures are illustrative based on published batch capacity data (2.7 GAL / 10.2 L per cycle, 8 trays) and should be validated against your facility's actual cycle frequency, material density, and operational schedule before use in capital planning documents.
| Fleet Configuration | Units Deployed | Combined Chamber Capacity | Combined Tray Count | Electrical Load (Average) | Electrical Load (Peak) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry Production Line | 10 units | 27 GAL (102 L) | 80 trays | 90–110 amps | 160 amps |
| Mid-Scale Production Line | 20 units | 54 GAL (204 L) | 160 trays | 180–220 amps | 320 amps |
| Full Production Fleet | 50 units | 135 GAL (510 L) | 400 trays | 450–550 amps | 800 amps |
Fleet electrical figures are additive estimates based on per-unit specifications. Actual facility load will vary based on cycle staggering, ambient conditions, and pump configuration. Engage a licensed electrical engineer for facility-level load planning.
Operator Field Notes
- Vacuum Achievement Window: Target vacuum of 500 mTorr should be reached within 10–15 minutes under normal operating conditions. If the chamber has not reached 500 mTorr within 30 minutes, investigate for seal integrity issues, pump oil condition, or ambient temperature exceedance before continuing the cycle.
- Pump Oil Maintenance: Standard vacuum pump configurations require periodic oil changes and oil filter replacement. Maintain a supply of manufacturer-specified vacuum pump oil and replacement oil filters on-site. Neglecting oil maintenance is the leading cause of pump performance degradation and vacuum achievement failure.
- Ambient Temperature Management: Operating the unit in ambient temperatures above 90°F will degrade cycle efficiency. Above 105°F, operation is outside the manufacturer's specified range. Facilities in warm climates or with inadequate HVAC should monitor ambient temperature continuously during production runs.
- Tray Loading Discipline: Uniform tray loading depth and material distribution across all 8 trays directly affects sublimation uniformity. Inconsistent loading — deep on some trays, shallow on others — introduces the same batch variance that lyophilization is deployed to eliminate. Establish a standard loading protocol and enforce it across all operators.
- Wi-Fi Module: Remote monitoring capability requires the separately purchased Wi-Fi module. For facilities running multi-unit production lines, the Wi-Fi module enables centralized cycle status visibility without requiring physical presence at each unit. Evaluate this accessory as part of your initial deployment planning rather than as an afterthought.
- Post-Harvest Sealing: Lyophilized material requires immediate transfer to sealed, moisture-barrier packaging to preserve shelf stability gains achieved during processing. The impulse sealer and Mylar bags (50 ct.) available as accessories are designed for this workflow. Do not allow processed material to remain unsealed in ambient air.
Operator FAQ
Q: What is the holding capacity of the Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer, and how does that translate to batch throughput?
A: The Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer (N/A-HRPH-LRG) has a holding capacity of 2.7 GAL (10.2 L) distributed across 8 stainless steel trays. Actual batch throughput in terms of processed weight will vary based on material type, density, and initial moisture content. The capacity figure represents the volumetric space available within the chamber for loaded trays — not a finished-weight output figure. Establish your facility's per-batch yield through controlled test runs before projecting annual throughput for planning purposes.
Q: Does this unit require a dedicated electrical circuit, and what are the exact power specifications?
A: The unit operates on 110V and draws 9–11 amps under average operating conditions, with a peak draw of 16 amps during active freeze cycles. A dedicated circuit or a circuit with verified available headroom of at least 16 amps is strongly recommended. Sharing the circuit with other high-draw equipment during active cycles risks tripping the breaker and interrupting the lyophilization process mid-cycle, which can compromise batch integrity. Consult a licensed electrician to confirm circuit capacity before installation.
Q: What vacuum level does the system target, and how quickly does it reach that level?
A: The target vacuum during drying is 500 mTorr, which is also the minimum safe pressure threshold for this unit. Under normal operating conditions, the chamber reaches 500 mTorr within 10–15 minutes of cycle initiation. The acceptable achievement window is 30 minutes. If the chamber has not reached target vacuum within 30 minutes, this indicates a potential issue with pump oil condition, seal integrity, or ambient temperature — all of which should be investigated before proceeding with the cycle.
Q: Is the oil-free vacuum pump upgrade worth the additional cost for a commercial production environment?
A: The oil-free vacuum pump upgrade is priced at $1,495 USD and eliminates the requirement for oil changes and regular pump maintenance. In a multi-unit production environment, the labor and consumable cost of maintaining oil-based pumps across a fleet of units can accumulate significantly over time. The oil-free pump is also quieter and faster according to manufacturer specifications. For facilities prioritizing reduced maintenance overhead and noise-sensitive processing environments, the upgrade is worth evaluating as part of the initial deployment budget rather than as a reactive purchase after experiencing maintenance friction.
Q: Does Smart Freeze™ technology require operator training or manual programming to function?
A: Patented Smart Freeze™ technology automates the process sequencing logic across freeze, primary drying, and secondary drying phases without requiring manual programming or specialized operator training. The touch interface provides real-time monitoring and control access, but the system is designed to execute the lyophilization cycle autonomously once initiated. This architecture is specifically relevant for facilities where multiple operators run the equipment across shifts — process consistency is maintained by the system rather than by individual operator knowledge.
Q: Can this unit be scaled into a multi-unit production line, and how does that affect infrastructure requirements?
A: Yes. Each Large Pharmaceutical Freeze Dryer operates as an independent unit on its own 110V circuit, which means multi-unit production lines scale by adding circuits rather than by upgrading to a single high-voltage service. A 10-unit fleet requires 10 dedicated circuits provisioned for 16-amp peak draw each. A 20-unit fleet requires 20 circuits. This architecture provides production redundancy — if one unit requires maintenance, the remaining units continue operating without interruption. Facility electrical planning for multi-unit deployments should be completed by a licensed electrical engineer prior to procurement to ensure the building's service panel and distribution infrastructure can support the aggregate load.
