Kill Variance. Print Yield.
Every uncontrolled variable in a legacy lighting system is a silent tax on your facility's output. HPS lamps begin depreciating from the moment they strike — spectral shift, lumen decay, and thermal inconsistency compound across every harvest cycle. Passive failure points accumulate invisibly: a lamp running at 70% output looks identical to one running at 100% until your canopy data tells a different story. Manual control dead zones mean your team is reacting to variance instead of executing a repeatable production protocol. The longer legacy infrastructure stays in place, the wider the gap between your facility's actual yield and its engineered potential.
After deployment of the PhytoMAX-4 12S, the operational picture changes structurally. Canopy density becomes uniform because every fixture delivers the same spectral output on day one and on day 27,000. Scheduling is automated through 0-10V dimming architecture, eliminating manual intervention from the photoperiod workflow. Lamp replacement cycles disappear from the maintenance calendar entirely. Your cultivation team stops managing equipment degradation and starts executing yield protocols — and the facility's output becomes a function of agronomic decisions, not infrastructure entropy.
The mechanism behind that outcome is the Phyto-Genesis Spectrum® — a full-range spectral platform spanning 350–750 nm (Beyond PAR™) that includes UV content at 3% of total output to match natural sunlight conditions, driving secondary metabolite expression and documented cannabinoid increases of 39% in lab testing. The PhytoMAX-4 12S delivers 1,594 µmol/s total PBAR output (UV: 47, PAR: 1,428, IR: 119 µmol/s) from 336 LEDs at 2.14 µmol/J PBAR efficacy, housed in a 15" x 15" x 4.5" fixture weighing 28 lbs. Active cooling via oversized heatsinks and redundant fans maintains thermal stability across the full operating range of -4 to 104°F, while modular drivers at 94% efficiency and automatic over-temperature shut-off eliminate passive failure points at the electrical level. Dimming runs 15–100% via 0-10V signal (dim-to-off capable) and is compatible with industry-standard controllers. In practical terms, the PhytoMAX-4 12S delivers 1,594 µmol/s PBAR across its coverage footprint at 750 watts draw and 2,558 BTU/hr thermal load.
Where This Belongs (and Doesn't)
Not recommended for circuits under ~6.25A @120V or ~3.13A @240V per fixture, or unsealed rooms lacking HVAC capacity for expected thermal load.
Minimum infrastructure requirement: Dedicated 20A circuit per fixture at 120V, or verify amperage draw at operating voltage before installation. HVAC capacity must account for 2,558 BTU/hr per fixture; consult your mechanical engineer before scaling fleet deployments.

How It Works
The PhytoMAX-4 12S operates on the Phyto-Genesis Spectrum® — a proprietary full-range spectral architecture spanning 350–750 nm (Beyond PAR™) that goes beyond conventional PAR-only LED platforms. The spectrum is engineered to replicate natural sunlight conditions at the canopy level, including UV content at 3% of total output (47 µmol/s UV), which drives secondary metabolite expression — documented in lab testing as a 39% increase in cannabinoid content and elevated terpene production relative to PAR-only lighting environments. The IR channel (119 µmol/s) extends the photobiologically active range beyond 700 nm, supporting end-of-day far-red signaling and canopy penetration into lower tier foliage. Total PBAR output is 1,594 µmol/s from 336 LEDs, delivered through a glass lens with greater than 99.5% transmissivity to minimize photon loss between source and canopy.
Thermal management is handled by an active cooling system combining oversized heatsinks with redundant fans and redundant power supplies — eliminating the single-point failure modes that cause unplanned downtime in passive-cooled platforms. Modular drivers operate at 94% efficiency, and automatic over-temperature shut-off provides a hardware-level safety backstop independent of controller input. The fixture accepts 100–277V (12SC) or 100–250V (12SP) input, draws 750 watts, and produces 2,558 BTU/hr of thermal load — a 40–60% reduction in cooling cost compared to equivalent HPS infrastructure. Dimming is controlled via 0-10V signal across a 15–100% range (dim-to-off capable), compatible with industry-standard environmental controllers, and supports daisy-chaining of multiple fixtures to a single outlet for simplified zone control. FloraFlux™ proprietary light mapping software models output from every individual LED, enabling facility-level PPFD mapping before physical deployment. The fixture measures 15" x 15" x 4.5" and weighs 28 lbs, with flush-ceiling mounting capability for maximum canopy clearance in low-profile rooms. In practical terms, the PhytoMAX-4 12S delivers 1,594 µmol/s PBAR at 2.14 µmol/J efficacy across a 5 x 5 ft flower footprint at 750 watts and 2,558 BTU/hr thermal output.
Pick Your Configuration
The PhytoMAX-4 12S is available in two electrical configurations. Both deliver identical photon output (1,594 µmol/s PBAR), spectral architecture (Phyto-Genesis Spectrum®), and physical form factor (15" x 15" x 4.5", 28 lbs). The difference is electrical interface and deployment environment.

Operator Field Note
- Structural Load: Each fixture weighs 28 lbs. Verify ceiling or racking structural capacity before mounting, particularly in multi-fixture grid configurations. Flush-mount ceiling installation is supported by the manufacturer.
- Electrical Draw: 750W at operating wattage. At 120V, expect approximately 6.25A per fixture; at 240V, approximately 3.13A. Confirm actual amperage at your supply voltage and size circuits accordingly. Do not exceed 80% of circuit breaker rating per NEC guidelines.
- UV Exposure Warning: The Phyto-Genesis Spectrum® includes UV output (47 µmol/s, 3% of total PBAR). Do not view the fixture directly when operating. Use appropriate UV-protective eyewear during canopy inspection under active fixtures.
- Thermal Setpoints: Operating range is -4 to 104°F / -20 to 40°C. Automatic over-temperature shut-off is a hardware-level protection — do not rely on it as a substitute for properly sized HVAC. Sustained ambient temperatures approaching 104°F will trigger shut-off and interrupt photoperiod schedules.
- Redundancy Architecture: Redundant fans and redundant power supplies are integrated into the fixture. A single fan or power supply failure will not cause immediate fixture shutdown, but maintenance should be scheduled promptly upon any component fault indication.
- Daisy-Chain Limits: Multiple fixtures can be daisy-chained to a single outlet. Total daisy-chain load must remain within the circuit's rated capacity. Calculate total wattage across all chained fixtures before wiring.
Operator FAQ
Q: What amperage does the PhytoMAX-4 12S draw, and how should I size my circuits?
A: The PhytoMAX-4 12S draws 750 watts at full power. At 120V, that equates to approximately 6.25A per fixture; at 240V, approximately 3.13A; at 277V (12SC only), approximately 2.71A. Per NEC guidelines, circuits should not be loaded beyond 80% of their rated capacity. On a standard 20A/120V circuit, do not exceed 16A total load — meaning a single fixture plus daisy-chained units must remain within that threshold. Consult a licensed electrician for final circuit sizing in your jurisdiction.
Q: What controllers are compatible, and what dimming modes does the fixture support?
A: The PhytoMAX-4 12S uses a 0-10V control signal for dimming, which is compatible with industry-standard environmental controllers. The dimming range is 15–100% of full output, and the fixture supports dim-to-off functionality — meaning it can be fully extinguished via the 0-10V signal without a separate relay. Multiple fixtures can be daisy-chained to a single controller output zone. Verify your specific controller's 0-10V output current capacity against the number of fixtures in the chain before wiring.
Q: What is the recommended mounting height for the PhytoMAX-4 12S?
A: Black Dog LED's FloraFlux™ light mapping software is designed to model PPFD distribution from every individual LED at your specific mounting height and room geometry. Optimal mounting height will vary based on target PPFD, canopy coverage area, and room dimensions. As a general starting point for flower production over a 5 x 5 ft footprint, consult Black Dog LED's published PPFD maps or contact Cannafull Spectrum Solutions at (888) 378-0017 for facility-specific guidance. The fixture supports flush-ceiling mounting for low-profile room configurations.
Q: What are the coverage dimensions for vegetative and flowering stages?
A: The PhytoMAX-4 12S is rated for up to 7 x 7 ft vegetative coverage and up to 5 x 5 ft flowering coverage. Flowering coverage reflects the higher PPFD density required during reproductive stages. Actual coverage will vary based on mounting height, target PPFD, and room reflectivity. Use Black Dog LED's FloraFlux™ software or contact Cannafull Spectrum Solutions for site-specific PPFD mapping before finalizing fixture spacing in your facility layout.
Q: What is the rated lifespan, and what maintenance does the fixture require over that period?
A: The PhytoMAX-4 12S carries a manufacturer-rated lifespan of greater than 75,000 hours, with a Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of greater than 70,000 hours for 12S models. There are no lamp replacement cycles — the LED array is designed to maintain output across the rated lifespan without scheduled bulb changes. The active cooling system (redundant fans) should be inspected periodically for dust accumulation in sealed room environments. The modular driver design allows component-level serviceability if a driver unit requires replacement outside the warranty period.
Q: What does the warranty cover, and how do I initiate a claim through Cannafull Spectrum Solutions?
A: The PhytoMAX-4 12S is covered by a 5-year limited warranty from Black Dog LED covering manufacturing defects and component failure. Additionally, Black Dog LED offers a 90-day money-back guarantee — contact Cannafull Spectrum Solutions to verify current eligibility terms before ordering. To initiate a warranty claim, contact Cannafull Spectrum Solutions directly at (888) 378-0017 or sales@cannafullspec.com. A Return Authorization (RA) number is required before any unit is shipped back. Do not return fixtures without an RA — unauthorized returns cannot be processed. Warranty
At CannaFull Spectrum Solutions, we want you to feel confident about your purchase. Many of the LED grow lights we offer come with a manufacturer's warranty, ensuring your investment is protected.
Understanding Your Warranty:
- The specific warranty terms and conditions will vary depending on the individual product you purchase.
- We highly recommend reviewing the manufacturer's warranty information included with your product upon arrival.
- This information typically details the warranty period, coverage specifics, and the claims process.
Here to Help:
While warranties are handled directly by the manufacturers, we understand navigating warranty claims can sometimes be confusing. Here at CannaFull Spectrum Solutions, we're here to support you throughout the entire process:
- Easy Access to Warranty Information: We strive to provide clear and concise warranty information on each product page. This often includes downloadable warranty documents or links to the manufacturer's warranty website.
- Dedicated Customer Support: If you have any questions regarding your product's warranty or need assistance filing a claim, don't hesitate to contact our friendly customer support team. We'll be happy to guide you through the process and help you get the support you deserve from the manufacturer.
What We Can Do:
While we can't directly handle warranty claims ourselves, we can assist you in several ways:
- Help locate the relevant warranty information for your specific product.
- Provide contact details for the manufacturer's warranty department.
- Offer guidance on completing and submitting a warranty claim.
- Act as a liaison between you and the manufacturer, keeping you informed throughout the process.
Our Commitment to You:
CannaFull Spectrum Solutions is committed to providing a positive customer experience. We want you to be happy with your purchase, and that includes ensuring your warranty claims are addressed promptly and efficiently.
